This £6.99 Aldi face mask is said to be a dead ringer for popular £39 product

July 20th, 2017

We love a bargain beauty gem, and it looks like Aldi could be the source of our latest skincare find, with the launch of its Lacura Exfoliating Mud Mask (£6.99)

The hero product of Aldi’s new beauty collection, this mask is inspired by the hugely popular GlamGlow YOUTHMUD Tinglexfoliate treatment, which is over £32 more costly at £39.

‘Visibly minimising the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, the mask leaves skin feeling firmer, revitalised and more radiant’ Aldi promises.

It describes the product as ‘packed full of hard- working ingredients, including Witch Hazel, Red Algae Extract, Clay and Green Tea Extract.

‘The tingling mask leaves skin looking visibly clearer and healthier in just four weeks’ Aldi concludes.

So is it all it’s cracked up to be? Sabaa Hamid, a Beauty Tester at the Good Housekeeping Institute, says: ‘The Lacura Mud Mask product contains Witch Hazel which tightens skin and refines pores, Clay which is amazing for drawing out oil from skin (great for T-zone!), as well as Green Tea Extract and Red Algae Extract which both act as antioxidants.

‘The Glam Glow product seems to have a more sophisticated formulation with more beneficial actives, however the main ingredients is Kaolin (Clay), so will ultimately work in a similar way.’

‘More expensive products often have a higher level of actives or better quality of ingredients, but usually it is very easy to find very similar products in the market at a much lower price point’ she adds.

Desperate to get your hands on a pot? Well, you’ll have to be quick, as the product is available to buy in stores from today (July 20) and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
